Tips to fight the cold in Winter

I know we're still not there. It's not winter yet, but it feels like it, at least in Barcelona. The last week has been full of storms, the strongest winds ever, rain, cold... I'm not used to it, I love summer!!! But I guess I'll have to get over my summer dependency until I'm able to move to a tropical country, and for now I have to get used to colder temperatures. You see, flexibility allows us to be happy even if the situation is not perfect :)
I don't know about you guys, but I find the cold times to be the hardest ones to be single. When it's cold you want to be with someone... I think you feel a bit like that too, at least that's what you said on the announcements board. But since we're single, we have to find ways to be ok with winter, right? Here're some of my tips, things that make me feel good when it is cold: - Hot chocolate, coffee, tea, a soup... - A hot bath with candles and lots of foam. And hey, with a glass of red wine. - A hug from a friend. - Cozy sweaters and really thick socks.
What about you?

Nere, I have to wholeheartedly agree with you, at this time of the year one is particularly sensitive to being cold alone. Your suggestions are great, and good up here in Norway, where winter has arrived well and truly. Lots of snow, hail, ice, nasty road conditions, and downcast faces in the streets. But we are all capable of survival, if we only know how. So things to look forward to keep you going. Like gløgg (mulled wine with spices and chopped almonds), open fires, snowball throwing, mail, hugs like you said, Nere, and so on. But I am going a step further next week: I am off to Sweden on a camping trip in the wilderness alone in the cold, to face up to the winter head on! I'll take my tent, sleeping bag, cooking device and food, and try to get through a weekend dependent on juyst myself. A good idea? I don't know, but it would be better to be able to do it together with a like soul... Dave

My solution to the winter problems was to move from cold Norway to Barcelona, and here I have no problems at all. November here in BCN is like September in Oslo, December is like October, January is like March and February like April. So I skip the awful months of November and December in Oslo - a very good feeling.
And another thing to overcome the winter is humor. The best humor in Norway is in the north, where they have the longest and darkest and coldest winter. Here in Spain, it's very funny to laugh at how the Spanish have no clue how to drive a car in the snow (lots of problems the last weeks because of snow in Spain).... or just how they behave when it rains or is very windy. And not at least the fact that many don't even have heating in their homes!! Because to overcome the winter, you actually need that, even here. We do use heating in September in Oslo, so we need to in November here.... ;-)
